SOE Gamer of the Month ? July 2012 ?

SOE has tons of gamers around the world! Every month, we highlight some of the most outstanding and helpful members of the community as the SOE Gamer of the Month. This month we are pleased to introduce Daddio from DC Universe Online.

Mepps, Community Manger from DC Universe Online, why has Daddio been chosen as this month?s SOE Gamer of the Month?

Daddio is a long time player who contributes to the game on a daily basis. Besides being a helpful voice on the forums, giving feedback and answering questions for new players, he has been an integral part of the Community Events Council. The C.E.C. is a completely player-run organization on US PC that plans, promotes, and runs special events for all players. This kind of community contribution is really something that sets DCUO and the DCUO community apart, and makes the game just that much more fun day in and day out. I?d like to take this opportunity to thank Daddio and everyone involved with the C.E.C. for their hard work and to say that I hope it continues! Congratulations, Daddio!

Where in the real life world do you live??

I live in New Jersey, just 20 minutes away from Atlantic City. It?s a wooded area of the beautiful state of New Jersey in the Pine Barrons.

What SOE Game(s) do you play?

I am really hooked on DC Universe Online. I really love this game?s combat system as it is very fast paced like Mortal Combat and other action fighting games. I also play Free Realm & Clone Wars Adventures.

How long have you played the above games?

Since they were all in Beta. I got into the Free Realms Beta and loved it since. I have also been playing DCUO since closed beta and have made some lifetime friends in the game.

What other games do you play?

I have tinkered with Oblivion and EQII, but the action pace of DCUO has spoiled me. Even The Secret World and SWTOR were too slow paced from me. I do play a lot of console games, XBox & PS3. I really love the Uncharted series on the PS3.

What type of work do you do?

I was a Criminal Investigator in the casino industry for over 20 years. I worked with state, local, and federal law enforcement to help with crime involved in the casinos and hotels.

How many hours a week do you play video games?

Omg, TOOOO MANY, 40+, playing video games is pretty much my only outlet these days. A few years back I suffered a series of minor strokes which were found to have been caused by a brain tumor which had be removed. So an operation later and 3 months of radation has left me partialy disabled and with short term memory loss. Luckily the game is good concentration retraining for me.

What does a typical gaming session consist of?

I log on around 8 AM every day and log out about 9 PM each night, with a few breaks in between for food when I remember I?m hungry..lol

In the SOE Games you play what do you play? Race/class/Rank/Empire ect?.

I play a level 30, Villian, Fire Tank, named Oiddad, (Daddio spelled backwards) who is leader of the Most Wanted Legion, (mostwantedlegion.webs.com) where we have a great bunch of young and old players who really work well with each other and avoid dramas that other guilds seem plagued with.

What got you into gaming and what sort of games do you like the most??

I got into gaming way back when, late 70?s early 80?s, when I discovered Space Invaders in a hotel lobby. From then I have owned every console that has ever came out except the NEO-GEO cause it was sooo expensive.? I loved MechWarrior4 and was very involved in player made map making, which Microsoft actually used one of remade for their Map / Mech pack expansions.

What other hobbies or activities do you take part in, other than playing Video Games?

I love wood carving, drawing, and painting. I have two wonderful boys, one of which games with me in DCUO for the PC.

What is your highest level character?

Level 30, 125 skill points, full t4 armor.

What do you like the most about your favorite SOE Game?

The combat system of DCUO for the PC. I?m a keyboard and mouse user. I also love the social aspect of the game where I can grab some friends and do stuff all day long.

How did you choose your main character?s name??

My kids started calling me Daddio. I have a level 30 hero named Daddio in game. Most of my personas online are Daddio, I love palying a villian, so since I used Daddio I simply reversed it to Oiddad.

What is your favorite zone??

Metropolis & PVPing Phase.

What is your favorite NPC??

I would have to say Lex Luthor, but they haven?t added Black Manta ?yet? so that may change as I am a huge Aquaman fan.

Which zone do you like the least??

Hall of Doom, Too many players Dueling all day..lol

I have suggested a few options to the devs. Maybe some day they will fix a few things.

Which NPC do you like the least??

Booster Gold, lol, nuff said?

Do you have an item you no longer use but keep around for nostalgic reasons? If so what is it and why do you keep it??

The epic rare items from the vault, Batman?s gloves, Joker?s Jetpack & Flash?s Journeyman?s boots.

Each of which imbue you with their movement powers.

Describe your best experience from playing your favorite SOE Game?

Had to be the some of the Community Events Council events we ran on the DCUO, Public Enemies server before Mega Servers on the PC. We had?so many players coming out to the pvp events and having so much fun. They were great.

You really go above and beyond with the part you play in the Community Events Council. ?Tell us how you got started with this organization. ?Share some of your experiences with us.

The C.E.C. was founded January of 2011, by Laylyn & RedRiding of the Haunt Guild. They asked various Hero & Villain Leagues on the Public Enemies Server to host and sponsor PVP events.

After a short time Laylyn invited several members to join a Council in hopes of promoting Community Spirit along with the PVP that could happen in the open world.

Now after over a year and a 1/2 worth of events, we have formed a group of players who enjoy planning and participating in this council. We hope to grow in numbers and get fresh ideas from new players and experienced vets.

Please feel free to submit your suggestions and ideas to help us make the game more fun for you and everyone else to play on.

Currently we are on the PC US MegaServers.
